How Breast Lift is Done

The surgery involves making incisions following the natural contour underneath the breast and around the nipple. In some cases, the incision can be limited to around the areola. The plastic surgeon then removes excess skin from the lower section of the breast and transposes the nipple, areola and underlying breast tissue to a higher position. The flaps of skin are brought back down and sutured together.

The breast lift procedure is done on an in- or outpatient basis. Patients experience minimal bruising and usually no pain. Patients are often back to work within a week.

Most experts agree that breast reconstruction does not interfere with cancer treatment or with one's ability to detect cancer recurrence. And, today, with sophisticated techniques and experienced surgeons, all women have the option of reconstructive surgery, offering permanent and natural looking results.
